The Elixir of Youth

Oh the elixir of youth! Bottled up and glistening in a crystal vial. Your eyes reflect the swirling hues of purple and bright blue – like orbs!

GULP!

New Power Unlocked: Beating the Feebleness of Old Age

We all know that chacha jee who says he’s forever young at heart. Well heart, body and beyond, the elixir of youth is here for you to sip up. Where?! Right here, in the pocket of your willpower, see? Whew! It’s been sitting here for quite some time now. It’s this: staying active. Jumping up to help anyone in need, whizzing past obstacles as you scurry for work and getting into the chores at home – all of these count. All this time you had been thinking it’s only the dumbbells and burpees or the morning jogs but staying active knows no such limits.

So the next time your mom comes up and asks for you to lend a hand, make sure you beat her to it. If you really wanna level up, be proactive, anticipating where you can be of use.

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) used to seek Allah (SWT)’s protection from the feebleness of old age after prayers in these words:

“O Allah, I seek refuge with You from cowardice, miserliness and from being sent back to a feeble age; and, seek refuge with You from the trials of this life and those of the grave.” [Bukhari – 6390]

You see, Allah (SWT) has blessed you with an excellent body. Exerting it in all the good stuff won’t wear it out, it would strengthen it up.

Do watch out though and be humble to accept your limits. Be of those who read and remember the following verse:

“Allah does not require any soul more than what it can afford. All good will be for its own benefit, and all evil will be to its own loss. “Our Lord! Do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord! Do not place a burden on us like the one you placed on those before us. Our Lord! Do not burden us with what we cannot bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Guardian. So grant us victory over the disbelieving people.” [Quran 2:286]
