Embracing the Fall

Crunchy leaves. Changing breeze. And barren trees… What comes to mind when you read these phrases together? You guessed it! The Fall season. It’s almost here! Fall has its own beauty, no? Despite the trees losing all their leaves, flowers giving up most of their beauty, and nature, in general, packing its bags to settle in for the oncoming winters, Fall still remains mesmerizing, almost magical with the wind starting to carry subtle signs of the cold that’s about to unfold, days getting shorter and nights longer and calmer. But as we take our blankets out and unroll them outside in the sun for a few days, let’s not forget to take a moment and reflect on falling leaves and changing seasons. What do these simple changes hold that are so important for us to reflect on?Allah SWT says in the Quran:He brings forth the living from the dead, and He is the One who brings forth the dead from the living. That is Allah! (Quran 6:95)As the tree leaves go from green to brown and prepare to fall to the ground at the slightest shake of the branch, we see a real-life manifestation of how Allah brings forth the dead from the living. The leaf that was once fresh and new, glistened in sunlight as spring turned into summer is ready to drop down to the ground. From there it would either be buried in the ground or turned into dust, only to be carried far away from

RM of BTS refuses to apologise – K-pop and Islamophobia

“And you say, ‘Allahu Akbar’, I told him, ‘Don’t curse me’,” say the lyrics of Frank Ocean’s song, ‘Bad Religion’. The song appears to talk about the bi singer’s identity struggle, and how he feels that he has gone past the point of no return. Fully aware that no religion accepts homosexuality, the singer appears to mourn the fact that he has an ‘unrequited love’, and that he cannot be saved by God. The lyrics clearly pinpoint Islam in the chorus as a ‘bad religion’. The leader of #BTS, #RM, shared this song on his instagram story. Muslims, even his own fans, began demanding an apology for his spread of hate speech. No Muslim should feel comfortable around music, let alone such clearly anti-islam lyrics.  This seemed to get to him, as on a Live soon afterwards, an exasperated RM asked why people kept demanding an apology for something he ‘had no intention to do’. “Guys, it’s a song,” he said, clearly implying the outrage was an overreaction. He claimed that he respected all religions and that since he’s ‘30 years old’, he can ‘express his truth out.’ “I’m not apologising,” RM said, taking a sip of his drink. It doesn’t matter what he intended or not. If you thrash someone accidentally, it’s basic manners to still apologise. He still shared content that was Islamophobic and extremely disrespectful towards the faith professed by 2 billion people in the world. The fact that he straight-up refused to apologise is actually

Over the Rainbow – The History and Intricacies of the LGBTQ+ movement

These events happened in close succession and may be hinting towards a scary path. A road that leads to a liberal Pakistan supporting all kinds of immoral activities, including homosexuality.  All these events are underpinned by an international movement to not just normalise, but promote homosexuality. And while this ideology is a threat to the very existence of humanity, we need to understand it, identify its inherent weaknesses, and the tools used by pro-LGBT activists before we can begin to fight it. Tracing The Timeline LGBTQ+ ideologies may seem to be exploding in Pakistan right now. But the efforts had been cooking on slow-to-medium heat in the West for decades. Here’s a quick timeline to help you get an idea of how long these efforts have continued for humans to finally reach the peak of degeneracy we have today. Have these pro-LGBT individuals ever harmed anyone? Yes. There are multiple instances of how they have become a threat to certain groups. The next one may resonate even in the ranks of the Pakistani liberals that support the LGBT agenda. It’s not just physical spaces anymore. Some critics now argue that LGBT activists push issues that don’t align with feminist goals. Their efforts also shift the political focus from feminist goals, diluting their efforts and undermining issues affecting cisgender women.  Due to increased empathy garnered by these individuals, they also tend to divert the flow of resources towards their own campaigns and away from women-focused initiatives and organisations.  Most importantly,

The ‘Green’ Revolution

Will You Still Call It Harmless Entertainment? With what appears to be a “much-needed change” and a supposedly “breath of fresh air,” the Pakistani audience has seemingly convinced itself that our media industry is finally soaring to new heights. Challenging the oh-so-suffocating stereotypes and throwing the saas-bahu melos out of the window, it’s ready to step up the cultural norms, stare straight in the eye and all that with rainbow glasses on.  But hold on just a moment! It sounds almost too good to be true. Well, surprise, surprise! In the world of Pakistani media, change often comes with its own unique disguise. Beneath the glittering exterior and the melodious hum of progressive tunes lies a stark reality that’s a million light-years away from “good.” Let’s take a step back and adjust our own set of glasses—ones that will allow us to see through the illusion. Cloaking themselves in the nostalgia of friendships, memories, and teenage adventures, the newbies in the market profess to stand for justice, equality, and the courage to voice against oppression. However, a closer look reveals a subtle yet unmistakable liberal agenda at play. The narratives are imported directly from the masters who seem to have graduated from the schools of equality, with a post-grad in radical feminism,  an LGBTQ+ certification, and a special course on making extramarital affairs look oh-so-glamorous. Here are a few to quote. The stories of Pakistan’s media industry advocating for liberal agendas are not new. In the realm of international

Love, Lies and Lessons

After almost three years, looking back, I see it wasn’t sudden. The time I had spent seemingly embracing the best days of my life were actually the days of absolute misery. (Tramadol) Chasing an unattainable ideal left me discontent as my life paled beside the fabricated romances I craved. Apart from that, seeking validation in likes and comments, I fell into a cycle of comparison and self-doubt. The impact on my physical and mental health was undeniable. The sweet escape of oh-so-good novels, mindless entertainment, and social media addiction left me yearning for a non-existent reality and distorted my perception of love, relationships, and self-worth. I felt overwhelmed and trapped in a world that promised happiness but only gave temporary highs and lasting lows. A lesson learned: the story sheds light on how it is crucial for us to recognise the impact of the content we consume every day. In this age of constant connectivity and instant gratification, we must be vigilant in guarding our hearts and minds against the pitfalls of seeking validation and fulfilment in fabricated narratives. As we close the pages of this chapter, let it serve as a reminder to be mindful of the stories we immerse ourselves in. Let us choose narratives that inspire us to grow, be the better versions of ourselves, and celebrate the unique beauty of each individual journey. For, it is in embracing our own stories, with all their twists and turns, that we can truly find the best endings

Weekly Wrap-up! Church girao ya Azadi manao 19.08.23

This week’s podcast has been posted on our new YouTube channel @raja.ziaulhaq . Kabhi Ae Naujawan Muslim, Tadabbur Bhi Kiya Tu Ne Woh Kya Gardoon Tha Tu Jis Ka Hai Ek Toota Huwa Tara Tujhe Aaba Se Apne Koi Nisbat Ho Nahin Sakti Ke Tu Guftar Woh Kirdar, Tu Sabit Woh Sayyara Ganwa Di Hum Ne Jo Aslaf Se Meeras Payi Thi Surreya Se Zameen Par Asman Ne Hum Ko De Mara Pakistan ka matlab kya La ilaha illa Allah. What does it really mean? Amidst all the independence celebrations, have we ever pondered on the real essence of freedom? Seventy-six years ago, we got this country in the name of Islam. Today, it seems to be about everything but Islam. No wonder why, even after all these years, we’re still enslaved. Although we’ve secured the land, the chains of mental subjugation persist. Does there lie a silver lining? Watch the full episode to find out! The Jaranwala incident has triggered nationwide condemnation. Even if an individual has engaged in an unlawful act, it remains unacceptable for the public to take the law into their own hands and resort to violence, especially against a minority. It’s vital to remember that the actions of a small number do not define the larger majority. News of the week: Donald Trump pledges death penalty for human traffickers. Weekly Wrap-up! No Gangsters In Paradise 12.08.23

Remember the days when success was a charming mix of grace, education, and values? Today, it’s all about money, fame, status, and power. After all, who needs virtues when you can flaunt your luxurious lifestyle on social media and gain a massive fan following? It’s not who you are anymore but how much you can make others believe you’re rolling in cash. Living in a world of materialistic pursuits and impressionism, where morality has taken a backseat and bad has become the new cool, it is important to revisit our definitions of success. If success was all about money, Qaroon would have been the most successful person. If success was about how much power you have, then Pharaoh would have topped the list. In reality, success is not what it seems to be in today’s era. Amidst this rat race, finding the right direction requires introspection. Ask: What’s your life’s purpose? Is it about impressing others? Dedicate some time alone to have this mental clarity about life and where you’re headed. Limit social media because you’re what you consume. Strengthen your connection with Allah (SWT) and ponder upon death often, a reality that holds us from losing ourselves in the temporary allures of this world. Weekly Wrap-up! Transgenders in Women’s Universities 05.08.23

Break the Ice: as horses gracefully avoid stepping on the rainbow flag imprint, the interesting video roars fitrah! Only if humans could also show some intelligence. Not so long ago, we came across such cases in the West where a biological male (identifying as a woman) raped a lady in a female restroom. Welcome to a progressive Pakistan where a transgender woman (a biological male identifying as a woman) can now join women-only universities. Wondering about the repercussions, watch the podcast to find out! Puncture of the Week: DAWN News strikes again with a pretentious piece, “Necropolitics of Maria B”, which was nothing but a swamp of weighty English words as if a thesaurus could have saved their day. Fun fact: it didn’t! Picture this: a hardcore women empowerment advocate bashing not just any man but a woman! Uzma Yaqob, in her recent clip, seems to confidently preach lessons of tolerance while bashing Maria B alongside, who dares to have a different viewpoint than her. Nice!
