GENZ – 10 Proven facts about us!

Born into a highly digitalized world with a massive bombardment of information and countless distractions, Generation Z is considered the smartest of all previous generations.

According to the Pew Research Center, this cohort includes those born between the mid-1990s and early 2010s. With distinct characteristics and demands, Gen Zers are highly passionate yet sometimes perceived as lazy, setting huge goals while seeking the easiest possible ways to achieve them.

In this article, we will discuss 10 proven facts about Gen Z that make it stand out among other generations.

We Are Digital Natives

One of the most notable facts about our generation is our seamless access to the digital world. We play with gadgets instead of toys, and a wealth of information is our tool to survive in this demanding world. However, social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook can also be major time-wasters. Additionally, while digitalization has shortened distances and made online connections easier, it has also led to a loss of on-ground connections with our families and friends, as we often find ourselves lost behind screens.

We Have Our Opinions and Love to Express Them

Gen Zers are open-minded and welcome diverse opinions, but we also have our own strong voices on various issues. We build our opinions based on our beliefs and express them fearlessly in all arenas—whether at home, school, or university. Moreover, we are social media warriors. Whether raising awareness for an ongoing issue or fundraising for someone in need, we take to our keyboards and jump into the social media world to rally others for the cause.

We Always Search for the Truth Behind Things

Unlike previous generations, we don’t believe everything we see. Instead, we dig into the truth behind every apparent reality. Conventional practices often leave us with question marks in our minds, and we strive to uncover the answers by looking behind the scenes. Additionally, we are known for leading with passion and making significant impacts in various fields of life. We are the boss generation!

We Love Being Educated

As a unique-minded generation, we hate cramming lessons! We are keen to change the traditional pathways of education and have innovated various educational fields that are more informative and updated according to the demands of the modern world. Unlike regular methods of education, Gen Zers are passionate and independent learners who prefer skillful learning over the outdated method of cramming from textbooks.

We Are a Sensitive Generation in a Desensitized World

It may seem like we don’t care, but we do! Despite being exposed to a lot of violence and negativity through social media, we strive to spread positivity from our end. Although we live in harsh realities and an intolerant world, we feel empathy for our brothers and sisters facing difficult times and try to find every possible solution to bring peace to this world. While social media has glamorised sins and made them easier to commit, many young people are returning to the righteous path and becoming practising Muslims.

We Are Multitasking, Fast-Paced Champs

Technological advancements have made it easy for us to tackle multiple tasks at once. Gen Zers can manage their education while working as freelancers, not only saving time and money but also honing their skills to the next level.

We Value Mental Health

Unlike previous generations, we are more concerned about our mental health, as we are particularly vulnerable to challenges arising from issues such as excessive violence, increased screen time, reduced resources, financial crises, and climate change.

We Are Resourceful

With digital technology at our fingertips, we have become adept at utilising all available resources to their fullest potential. For us, it’s not necessary to have adult supervision to perform a task—we simply google the process and do it ourselves. We are leaders! Moreover, we don’t rely on conventional methods; instead, we prefer to innovate new ways to excel in this fast-paced world.

We Have Our Own Style in the Workplace

Boring, burdening jobs? Not for us! Securing our financial stability while enjoying a relaxed work environment is our priority. We prefer jobs that align with our passions, making work enjoyable for us.

We Are Struggling to Revamp Our Long-Lost Values

Last but not least, it’s evident that the values our religion and culture imparted have been eroded, but the youth is gradually becoming more inclined toward religion. Digitalization has made it extremely easy for us to reach out to renowned scholars and learn about Islam. However, our constant connection with social media often pulls us toward the glamour of this worldly life, and we fight every day to secure our true foundations.

In a nutshell, Gen Zers are the real champs, struggling through some of the hardest times in history and yet excelling in all areas. Whether it’s technological advancement, skill-based learning, unique ideas, fun-oriented workspaces, or the fearless expression of ideas, our generation has tackled it all with phenomenal effort and rigorous passion.
